Program Entry Requirements

Students will be admitted into the M.Ed Curriculum and Instruction major by the faculty once the application criteria are met. To be accepted into the M.Ed Curriculum and Instruction program, students must:

  • A bachelor degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 in the last 60 hours of college coursework.
  • A minimum of 18 semester hours with no letter grade less than a “C” in the certification subject area with a minimum GPA of 2.75 or a minimum GPA of 2.75 in the last 60 hours of college coursework or,
  • A minimum of 12 hours with no letter grade less than a “C” in the certification subject area and a score of PASS on the coordinating TExES examination.
  • Eligibility for admission to graduate school (GRE scores will be required for GPA less than 3.0 in the last 60 hours).

Program Level Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Achieve the necessary knowledge and skills necessary to earn teacher certification in Texas.
  2. Be employable as educators in Texas.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge and skills studied to earn a master's degree.
