OVERVIEW

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University–Central Texas is an online program that prepares you to analyze student data, utilize research, and employ best practices to enhance the quality of teaching, training, and learning in any classroom or workplace. The courses are specifically designed to provide you with a wide range of experiences, enabling you to serve as expert teachers, mentors in schools, or training professionals. You will have the opportunity to take 18 hours in your field or content area to teach dual-credit or undergraduate college courses. Students in the Alternative Certification Program may take additional courses to earn their master’s in education. At Texas A&M University-Central Texas, we strive to provide current, relevant, and rigorous material in a time frame that meets the needs of working teachers and professionals.

Program Level Student Learning Outcomes

The student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a proficiency in the fundamental concepts in areas of curriculum and instruction.
  • Illustrate the ability to read, understand, and critically analyze the ideas presented in research-based scholarly works to inform practices.
  • Plan, organize, implement and evaluate instructional materials to improve student achievement.
  • Examine the use of assessments and interpret data to evaluate programmatic effectiveness.
  • Strengthen the profession by presenting educational research in written, oral, and/or visual formats.

Students who complete the thesis option are not required to take the Comprehensive Exam. 
Students may complete six hours of thesis in lieu of six hours of Graduate content area courses.  

Students will be admitted into the M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction major by the faculty once the following application criteria are met:

1. Successful admission to graduate school. No GRE required.

2. Appointment with Graduate Program Coordinator.
